Last week-end we discovered the Wondang Horse Ranch in Gyeonggi-do. This horse racing training center is managed by the Korean Race Association. It is located in the middle of the nature right next to the site of UNESCO World Heritage – Seosamneung.horse mascot - Wondang Horse Ranch

When you start walking from the parking lot, take the nice road in the middle of the meadows. You can see dozens of beautiful horses grazing peacefully in this idyllic setting which was chosen for several movies shooting.beautiful meadow - Wondang Horse Ranch

Take your own picnic as there are no restaurants inside the Horse Ranch and enjoy your lunch in the grass.Trainer & horse - Wondang Horse Ranch

But be aware if your kids want to ride a horse, you are not at the right place. The ranch is open for public only to enjoy the walk in the nature and observe the horses but there are no other tourist activities or attractions organized. team horse riding - Wondang Horse Ranch

For all those who want to touch and see more animals, there is a small zoo called Theme Park ZooZoo just a few kilometers north of the ranch. This theme park is a bit oldish and small but it’s a nice stopover if you are already in the area. Especially the farm animals section where you can walk in the middle of pigs, goats, sheep and peacocks, feed and touch them is really funny.goats - Theme Park ZooZoopeacock - Theme Park ZooZoo

  1. I am so impressed by the content and visuals that has been posted on this blog site.

I am hoping to get in touch with you separately in regards to our upcoming vacation from Singapore to Korea. We are arriving on the 10th of Nov 2012 and out on the 23rd of Nov (Bearing both days will be travelling days).

We have 2 families- 8 of us: With 2 Children: 9years old + a 8yr old + a 15yr old. It’s first time for most of the group except for myself who travels to seoul every year on business trips to the Coex area.
What is your best advise to best spend the 11days in Korea that will leave the kids so impressed and engaged and remember their vacation in Korea and yet it’s fune and lesuire for the adults? The Farm stay looks great…is this a great time of the year to do this activitiy too?

What sort of accomodations will you recommend? though we are inclined to try local/ tradional set ups..

What is the best flow to go with: Seoul- Jeju- Ski Mountain- Seoul or just Seoul-Jeju- Seoul or just Seoul? Any other tips/ best practices to share?

Any top of the list places to dine in? (quality local food, unique restaurant settings?)

Your inputs are invaluable as we plan our vacation travelling with our children.

What about transportations around Korea? Any advice is good consideration!

Look forward to hearing more from you!.

Thanks so much for taking the time to review this!

    1. Thank you for your comment Sophia.
I’m sure you’ll have a great time in Korea as it is a very easy destination to travel in with family.
As I am more specialized in larger Seoul and surroundings, I can’t unfortunately recommend many things outside of this area.
Transportation is very easy and reliable in Korea. You can find easily an express bus or a train going to almost every destination. In Seoul, the public transportation is very convenient and taxi is also a very good option, and turns out to be even cheaper if you are traveling with family.
The hotels are quite expensive all around Korea and overbooked especially during weekends and holidays. If you are inclined to try local bed and breakfasts it’s definitely much cheaper and cooler option but it’s also recommended to book in advance. You may find more tips about Korea beyond Seoul, including Jeju / Busan and others in Visit Korea website or Richard Koehler website

Have a great trip and I hope you’ll find plenty of inspiration on my website for the days you will spend around Seoul.
