Yeouido Spring Flower Festival

Spring has finally come to Seoul! Don’t miss the picturesque & family-friendly Yeouido Spring Flowers Festival from April 12th to 18th, 2013. Cherry blossoms will be at their best while you can enjoy many family animations.

Yeouido Spring Flower Festival - officialThe Festival is run every year during a short week. Azaleas, forsythia (캐나리), royal azaleas, and other spring flowers are all around. But what is so spectacular is the impressive alleys with 1,500 Korean Cherry trees turning to full bloom in Yeouiseo-ro, the street at the back of the National Parliament. So picturesque… so romantic too!

Yeouido Spring Flower Festival Yeouido Spring Flower FestivalIt may get sometimes overcrowded particularly during weekend days, so try to go relatively early. As a hint, we visited on Sunday but got to the place before noon, the Festival was already lively but there was no overcrowding yet.

A few animations for kids can be found at several stands, such as face-painting or getting a picture with Pororo mascot. You will also find many street-food and refreshment stands.

Go quickly while the flowers are at their best. Your kids will surely be amazed by the Spring beauty and you’ll get away with amazingly cute pictures!

Cars have limited access to the road around the National Assembly building during the festival period so that visitors can enjoy the blossoms and festivities freely. At night, the cherry blossoms are lit up with various colored lights and a wide range of street performances and art exhibitions take place.

How to get there:

  • National Assembly Station (Subway Line 9), Exit 1 or 6. 5 minutes walk.

  1. When were these photos taken? We went yesterday and was disappointed the flowers were not in bloom. But still got to hug Pororor! Thanks for your posts; so helpful!

    1. Hi Mark, Thanks for your kind feedback.
We went today, Sunday April 14th and all the pictures were taken on that day. The Northern part (along Hangang River) was not yet fully in bloom indeed – however the Southern area was already very nice. If you can, try to return in the next few days!

      1. Hi Ulfa,
It is very difficult to predict the cherry blossoms period right now as it depends on the temperatures in February and March. You should check the Cherry Blossom Forecasts starting from March 2014 😉
