Famous for its Spring Jazz Festival, Jaraseom Island is a beautiful stopover if you are in the Namiseom Island area
Jaraseom Island is famous for hosting the annual Singsing Winter Festival and the annual International Jazz Festival. The Island is located very close to the Namiseom Island and is composed of four islands – Dongdo, Seodo, Jungdo, and Namdo. The first thing you will see when you come to the island is a car camping site. The place should be nice in summer time or during the festivals with all the people around. Right now, at the end of the winter, it looked a little bit chilly and empty :-). But we parked our car and continued to walk to the farthest – most eastern island. The walk is really pleasant and this island is a great place to let your kids ride bicycles or run after a soccer ball.
As it was very windy we also flew a kite and we’ve been thinking how nice it should be when the weather is warmer and you can have a picnic on the grass.
On our way home, we stopped by the ecosystem theme park Ewhawon Garden located at the westernmost tip of the Jaraseom Campground. Ewhawon is divided into botanical gardens for subtropical plants and southern area plants, and is composed of various themed gardens named Brazil Coffee Garden, Hadong Green Tea & Goheung Citron Gardens, as well as Pine Tree Forest, Hwanungsa, Ewhajeong, and Ilwonji. Everything is well organized with beautiful sidewalks crossing the little ponds and allowing to walk along the small waterfall. A free drink (coffee, green tea, or delicious citrus tea) is offered to all the visitors in exchange of the admission ticket in Harmonia Cabin located in front of the Brazil Coffee Garden. It’s really a pleasant moment spent in this tropical atmosphere especially during the cold mid-seasons.
If you are looking for a restaurant, there is plenty of choice on the main road going to the Namiseom Island.
