The newly opened Seoul Citizens Hall is an exciting fresh attraction for its innovative architecture, surprising interiors and many activities and exhibitions. Awesome, fun, eye-catching & best of all: free!
The new glass building just behind the former City Hall has a very original line. The Seoul Citizens Hall has been designed to induce various participatory activities involving citizens and to create a flexible and inspirational space.
When you enter, you’ll be immediately impressed by the vertical garden with real plants and a giant tower of balloons. Have a look at this bright opened and eco-friendly entrance hall with its pieces of art. You’ll find there also a corner with computers for free use and a small photo exhibition.
The two basement floors consisting of different galleries, halls, coffee shops and public square are prefect spots for spending an afternoon. Apart from some permanent exhibitions (Gungisi Relics Exhibition Hall and City Gallery) and public library, we enjoyed the Media Wall, the Citizens Gallery and the colorful Citizens Plaza Open Lounge designed to be movable and configured on demand.
There are many free performances and activities organized at the Citizens Plaza so don’t forget to check the program of the day. When we visited on a Sunday afternoon, the kids could enjoy free face painting, animation movie, korean traditional dance performance, art and craft and many others…
