Let’s go to visit an amazing place just 15 kilometers east of Seoul. Surrounded by the mountains and in the middle of the thick forrest, there is a magic place called DonggureungDonggureung Josun Royal Tombs

Donggureung is the resting place of Joseon kings with nine royal mausoleums and seventeen graves in total. In recognition of its outstanding universal value the Royal Tombs of the Joseon Dynasty were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List on June 30, 2009. All the tombs are perfectly preserved at their original sites combining harmony between traditional Korean architectural style and beautiful natural settings.

I am sure you and your kids will feel the magic of this place, walking on the trails in the middle of the beautiful forest. Please note, that the Mongneung tomb is the only one, where you can climb on the upper platform to see the stone figures of military and civil officials as well as all the stone animals and of course enjoy the breathtaking view of all the amazing site.

Children (age 7~18) – 500 won / 400 won (group of 10 or more)

  • Gwangnaru Station, Seoul Subway Line 5, Exit #3 >> Take Bus #1-1 (a 15-minute ride) to Donggureung.
  • Gangbyeon Station, Subway Line 2, Exit #4 >> Cross the road and walk to the right (20 m) until you get to the bus stop. From there, take Bus 1-1 to Donggureung. Bus 1-1 from Gangbyeon also passes Gwangnaru Station.
